Interior & exterior design for residential house.
Wandal, Rockhampton, QLD
Flexspace is a modern Queensland built for a private resident in a small housing estate next on the outskirts of Wandal Rockhampton.
The objective of this project was to create a family home but with flexibility. It functions as a 4 bedroom home, but by simply locking one door it is separated into two houses. On one side, a studio unit is formed with its own outdoor area and private entry and the other side is a 3 bedroom house.
The client had a strict budget and for that reason general building techniques and methods were used based on normal spec homes but with a twist. Firstly - good design was implemented to allow for natural ventilation (avoiding the use of air conditioning and excessive lighting). Secondly, the space is very functional and is linked with outdoors. The house is placed to one side of the lot and all outdoor space is concentrated to one area to achieve a nice spacious courtyard. The courtyard is privatised by a separate garage and is alsp directly linked with verandah into houses’ living area.
