Within the World War II Memorial Building, there is a function room dedicated to the F45 fitness program where clients can have a heated workout, and simply take a couple steps into the pool to cool down.

Rockhampton, QLD

The operator of the south side pool commissioned Design and Architecture to refurbish the original entry and change room buildings for the south side pool. This building has lost its use, as the whole south side pool complex has been master planned and remodelled before. The entrance was relocated in a new position so the original historic little building was provided with a new function to facilitate as a fitness centre and currently has an F45 fitness program inside.

The building has an historic context, which was kept by minor exterior works. The entrance was moved, and the building is now entered from the poolside – the original entrance was enclosed from the outside, and the original change rooms had open-air centres, which was enclosed to create new fitness training facilities. New amenities, staffrooms, entrance, and offices were introduced to the building and the entrance was refurbished with a modern approach of timbre cladding combined with the current historic charms of the building.
