COMMUNITY PLANT NURSERY

Relocation and design of community nursery.

CLIENT:

Livingstone Shire Council

LOCATION:

Yeppoon, QLD

The objective was to relocate and extend the current community nursery in Yeppoon and a site was chosen inside the current and existing landfill. After thorough investigation of the site, and unused section was chosen which consisted of a shed, bitumen carpark and natural sloped area surrounding it.

The process consisted of converting shed into an administrative space, educational space whilst the remainder of the shed was kept as storage facility for landfil. A covered area off the shed was created for educational purposes and sorting of soil and weeding.

Greenhouses were introduced for seedling growth and trays designed for plant growth. Soil storage and compost creation and plant storage areas were all implemented on site.

Community driven in its purpose it needed to be functional, easily identifiable and also allow for growth.
