The boiler house and control room of the Teys Australia meatworks in Rockhampton were designed as an efficient, durable and non-maintenance site that blends into it’s neutral surroundings.

Rockhampton + Beenleigh, QLD

Design and Architecture was commissioned by Teys Australia to design a new boiler house and control room for a big project, which was a wastewater upgrade for the meatworks facility. The aim of the project was to create methane gas with all the offsets from the Meatworks facility to operate the boiler and use less coal for the current boiler on site. In conjunction with the client’s in-house engineers and also suppliers from America, Design and Architecture purposely designed the boiler house and control room to facilitate and suit all the required equipment. Both buildings were completed to be an efficient, durable and non-maintenance that conforms to all standards required including, fire rating etc.

The buildings were also designed to slightly blend into the natural surroundings by using two different variations of green colour-bond external wall sheeting’s. The bigger wastewater upgrade project has won several awards and has groundbreaking techniques and facilities, which facilitate better use of natural waste energy instead of coal. The Boiler House has been designed to be above flood level as it is located right next to the Fitzroy River and with some clever design, the building creates its own natural ventilation by still being waterproof.
